James Beaty

James Beaty, Ph.D. is a business leader with more than 20 years of experience in medical technology research and development. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Norwegian Energy Solutions & Services, a utility-grade solar power finance corporation located in Arlington, Virginia.

Previously, he held numerous research supervisor roles in biomedical engineering at The Johns Hopkins University. His work there includes neural signal pattern recognition and neurophysiology. He led a team of experts at the Applied Physics Lab to develop revolutionary limb prosthetics for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). His other experiences include healthcare consulting, diagnostic software development, and SaaS platform development.

As his career progressed into management and supervisory roles, he gravitated to his passion for helping grow and develop employees under his preview as well as others.

He received his B.S. from The Johns Hopkins University, M.S. from the University of Connecticut, and Ph.D. from Yale University, all in Biomedical Engineering, and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
